Fred Kayiwa is writing a one page paper for our workshop Ethical Public Domain. This is a discussion to He wrote: "We have just had common wealth youth confrence in Uganda but youths that attended most of them were in their late 30ths and these are taken to be more resposible than the teens and they represent the teener, its like in Uganda the Minister for Disabled people is not disabled nor lame so for me these are the things i critiseze and we should help the teneegers when we include them in the activities if the department of UN youths why there be AGED people? i wonder how many tenegeers are participating in the lithunia communia meeting."

From our chat room:

AndriusKulikauskas: Fred, can you write a one page critique for our debates?

FRED: sorry :: yes i can do that Andrius :: what do u think it can involve

AndriusKulikauskas: let's think

FRED: hm

AndriusKulikauskas: I think your thoughts about involving the youth are important :: why do you think the youth are not involved? :: who is stopping them? or what is not happening?

FRED: perfect :: and then the page critique should be online or ? :: do u get me Andrius

AndriusKulikauskas: I have an idea. You said that the problem is that youth are not represented by youth. Teenagers are being represented by people in their thirties and forties.

FRED: exactly right

AndriusKulikauskas: And one of the consequences is that teenagers don't have any say on the law of the land :: Teenagers are an important contributor to world culture :: but they don't get to share each other works or have a say about copyright law :: and the works are copyright for fifty years or more after the death of the author :: and that doesn't make sense for teenagers and their creative works :: because teenagers want to be heard now :: Am I making sense?

FRED: They are given audience by their fellow agments than the rest :: yes you are :: making sense

AndriusKulikauskas: Could you write about that? :: About the problem of including teenagers? :: And what kind of creativity do teenagers want to share? :: And what is keeping them from sharing it? :: And you can write to the Ethical Public Domain website

FRED: ok :: thanks for the advise :: will do some wriiting thanks

AndriusKulikauskas: Thank you!

FRED: and iwish you the best presatation

AndriusKulikauskas: Yes if you could write a clear one page then we will present it for our debates. Let's keep working on it!

FRED: and when do u expect it to be finished?

AndriusKulikauskas: This week, Fred! Monday is our workshop so it needs to be done before that. :: Can you write the one page by Wednesday?

FRED: ok then :: am going to think big this night

AndriusKulikauskas: great!

FRED: thanks :: am thinking big Andrius about the Internet cafe for me here :: iwill need your help finish the communia issue first

AndriusKulikauskas: yes ok

FRED: because i believe iu have much ideas :: i will need to have some paid work to cover my tution it is baddening me

AndriusKulikauskas: What are you studying, Fred?

FRED: i started my course now for Social Works and its BA will be done with my accounacy in sept

AndriusKulikauskas: Fred, I also like your question, How many teenagers are participating in COMMUNIA? Because it doesn't make sense that we don't have teenagers. :: Especially because many of the most profitable creative works are made for youth and children and are influenced by youth culture :: like the Disney films, for example :: Fred, I am thinking that your idea is good that there be youth and teenagers in COMMUNIA because also so much music is created for youth and by youth and they should have a say in the copyright regime.

Fred, please consider, what kind of copyright law would make sense for youth and children? Because youth and even small children are able to make creative works. But they are not able to make or even understand the laws. So what should be the copyright law for youth and children?
